Mark Cuban is having a contest for fans to potentially design the next Mavs jersey. I took a stab at trying to combine some of their past heritage, reinvigorated green as a color, and gave it (hopefully) an overall more distinct Texan feel.

There was no need to design the court, but I just went ahead with it anyway.

I got to design the Equality Chocolate bar wrapper, a collaboration between The Equality Project and Liberty Chocolates. The chocolate is really tasty and is made with honey as its sweetener instead of sugar. I look forward to working more with The Equality Project in the future. Stay tuned.

Kendrick Lamar dropped his lauded debut album good kid, m.A.A.d. city a couple months ago, which is really good. He is my third illustration this year of young, up-and-coming artists on the hip-hop/R&B scene (A$AP Rocky & Frank Ocean were the other two). Kendrick is also straight outta Compton, hence the Lakers style writing.

So 7 months ago Uni Watch had a redesign contest when Tom Benson announced he wanted to change the Hornets to something more New Orleans-based. They recently announced it would the New Orleans Pelicans, which happens to be the team name I chose. Most people seem to hate the name, but I like it. Paul was kind enough to remember my design and reach out for my thoughts. Originally, I picked a rather unique color combo, but with Mrs. Benson saying she hoped for the team’s new colors to be navy blue, red, and gold (blah) I recolored my design to the suggested colors.

The Milwaukee Brewers are holding a contest for fans to design a spring training uniform. I decided to design a completely new logo involving a barrel and their old school blue and gold colors. Prior to Milwaukee, the franchise was the Seattle Pilots, which I included with the wheat on the brim in reference to the scrambled eggs of the Pilots’ brim. The contest rules prohibited patterned fabric, negating my original idea (which I posted here), so I had to go with just solid off-white jerseys.

The Tigers are in the World Series, albeit down 0-2 to the Giants. Miguel Cabrera also had one of the great seasons in recent memory and most likely will win AL MVP this year. I got the idea of the tiger eyes fading into the background and thought I’d give a shot. Also weird quirk about the Tigers: ever noticed their cap and jersey D’s are different?

With the full slate of NFL games starting this weekend, fans of the other thirty non-NY (NJ) teams can feel trapped. This is a map for fans to locate their teams’ favorite hangout to watch games. Sorry Rams fans– I couldn’t find a Rams bar. A lot of sites say Dewey’s Flatiron is a Rams safe haven but their website claims to be an official Charger bar.

The beginning of the end! The NBA voted to allow ads on jerseys starting this season. The ads will not only be seen on the court, but on retail as well! People will argue soccer and NASCAR have ads but those sports have very limited commercials, NBA has plenty.

I whipped up this piece to show my displeasure. My piece appeared on Uni Watch as part of their movement against the uniform ads.
