The New Jersey Nets are moving to Brooklyn, actually right across the street from my apartment, in 2012. “Nets” is probably the weakest team name in pro sports. They’re named for a piece of equipment. “Knights” has been rumored about as a possible replacement name and works on multiple levels: BK is Brooklyn’s abbreviation, Brooklyn Knights sounds like Brooklynites, and also just sounds cool.
